Egy ember megjött Németországba.
És itt valami egészen ördögi filmet lát. Pereg a film, és közben többször is a karjába csíp, mert nem tudja, ébren van-e vagy álmodik. De azután észreveszi, hogy vannak még körülötte jó
néhányan, akik ugyanazt látják és hallják. Igen, és amikor végül éhesen és fázva megint az utcán álldogál, már tudja, hogy egészen mindennapi film ez. Egészen mindennapi. Arról szól, hogy egy ember megjön Németországba. Valaki azok közül. Valaki azok közül, akik megjöttek, de nem haza jöttek, mert itt már nincs otthon a számukra. Az ő otthonuk kívül van, az ajtó előtt. Az ő Németországuk kívül van, az esős éjben, az utcán.
Ott van az ő Németországuk.

A man has arrived in Germany. And here he sees something quite diabolical. The film is rolling, and he pinches his arm several times, because he doesn’t know if he’s awake or dreaming. But then he realizes that there are quite a few people around him who are seeing and hearing the same thing. Yes, and when he finally finds himself hungry and cold, standing on the street again, he knows that this is a film he sees every day. Quite ordinary. It’s about a man arriving in Germany. One of those people. One of those who have come, but have not come home, because there is no home for them here. Their home is outside, outside the door. Their Germany is outside, in the rainy night, on the street. Their Germany is there.
